56097 is removed from the shed and started following its repaint into Trainload Coal

D7629 was used to retrive the GatEx rake from Rushcliffe Halt and return them to Ruddington with RFO 1215. 73110 also arrived.

Sunday 23rd September 2007 saw a 350T crane descend upon the quiet area of Polesworth in order to install the Power and Signalling cabins required as part of the TV4 upgrade.

66009 & 66177 Top'n'Tailed the Cable Train (consisting of VXA+9no YVA+VXA) between Atherstone and Tamworth on the 9th June. The limits were 103mp - 109mp

The first train to use the reinstated Siding No1 at Hawkesbury Lane (Coventry-Nuneaton line) The sidings have been officially out of use since 1995 and last train was in the late 80s.

The train using the sidings is comprised of YVA Cable Drum Carriers for cable laying works on TV4

67016 top n tailed with 60016 visited the GCRN with the 'Edwalton Equinox' railtour. At Rushcliffe Halt, D7629 (25279) piloted the train to 50-steps. When was the last time a Class 25 worked on a railtour?

OHLE Foundation and Steel works carried out over the night of 4th/5th November. In total, 3 x Norex Mec14s and 4 x SRS were utilised, along with a 80ton Road Crane and a 52m Concrete Pump!

D7629 hauled 3 passenger services down the line to Loughborough. After the finally passenger service, D7629 was then used to take a rake of 10 wagons from 50-Steps to Rushcliffe Halt for storage, and then returned back to Ruddington at 21.45 with a newly arrived LMS coach for restoration.

Saturday 10th June saw D7629 (25272) work its first passenger service in over 2 years following repairs to No.2 cab and a leaking cylinder liner. D7629 also worked 3 trips to Loughborough on Sunday 11th June

D7629 (25279) made its first test run after 2 years of being overhauled. D7629 hauled the 4 GatEx coaches which allowed the Main Res to be piped through on the stock, which for the first time ensured the GLV Horn/Wipers were fully working.

The first outing of the GatEx Mk2s and GLV, powered by LSSH 423. The run was to the A60 road bridge opposite Brush works at Loughborough.

A brief trip to Doncaster to see 37510 in glorious sunshine

A quick visit to the centre resulted in the GLV, 56 and LSSH being brought down to near the shed to allow work to be undertaken at the weekend.

Stopped off in Doncaster for 1 hour on way back to Nottingham

A trip down the line to fetch 3 Dogfish wagons from Rushcliffe Halted, was met by a very delayed EWS Gypsum train. An added bonus was the Class 60 also shunted a crippled wagon to allow it to be unloaded.

On the way back to Nottingham I decided to stop by at Newport for a hour, and then move onto Cardiff to see the 37/4s in action on the Rhymneys.

Monday night saw me take the First Great Western Night Riveria service through to Penzance. Heading towards back home I stopped off at St Erths, Plymouth and Bristol.

Day 1 of my mini tour of the UK started by joining 67027 on the sleeper from Crewe-Preston via Manchester where 90020 continued solo to Edinburgh to be replaced by 37406 for the spirited run up the West Highland Line. Then took the CityLink coach to Inverness where I missed the Aberdeen service so did a unit back to Edinburgh via the Highland Mainline

56097 finally moved from Brush works to Rushcliffe Halt to take up residence at the GCRN

A visit to the Wensleydale Railway to see 37003 and 37198 in service

A trip to Elsecar to have a ride out on 101685 'Daisy'

Today was the very last run of the 73/2 and Mk2 stock on the Gatwick Express with the 13:00 from Victoria and 13:50 being the very last loco-hauled working.

A quick 10mins in York en-route to Teesside

Started off travelling on 1S25 20:34 Euston-Fort William Sleeper. At Queen's Park 90040 failed with loss of power but managed to limp to Willesden where RFD 90027 was attached and took us forward.

Due to sudden heavy rainfall, 90027 struggled to climb Beattock Summit and so we arrived Edinburgh 2.5 hours late!

1Y11 was cancelled so 37427 worked 1Z11 07:10 Edinburgh-Fort William. Due to the late arrivial into Fort William (11.41) I missed The Jacobite but managed to catch it on its return from Mallaig.

427 then powered 1B01, and I was soon asleep as we thundered through the highlands

A quick visit to the NYMR gala on the Saturday. A very enjoyable day with lots of thrash!

Today the opportunity was taken to use LSSH 423 'Churchill' to shunt the Gatwick Express Stock, using the air brake for the first time. After services had finished, it was then also used to shunt at Rushcliffe. This was to remove the two derlict coaches out of the bay platform and replace them with wagons to avoid passenger complaints

GBRF 66708 hauled ex South West Trains 4-CIG 1393 from Clapham Junction to Rushcliffe Halt, where it will be stabled until removed to the GCR at Quorn. 1393 will be used by the GCR with its Class 73.

1393 is ex 4-BIG unit 2258, but had the buffet car replaced by a TSO from a 4-CEP unit, thus becoming a 4-CIG

Following the progress of work being done on the GatEx stock. Current tasks include removing the advertising vinyls and cleaning the interiors.

30/04/05 - The interiors have been professionally cleaned to a very high standard, leaving only the expected wear and tear. What a difference its made!

Progress on removing the advertising vinyls has increased due to the hotter weather enabling the vinyls to come off more easily. In total, the platform side has 4 coaches devinyled, and the opposite side has 3.5 coaches done.

Also the water tanks on the 3 coaches closest to the centre were filled, identifying problems which hopefully can easily be overcome. But we do have one flushing toilet!
